RCM set several tasks for themselves, which they volunteered to solve in their device:
Avoid the formation of carbon deposits on batteries
Exclude manual adjustment to the height of the battery
Concise and simple design, without fancy engravings with logos and inscriptions on the body of the pipe, especially if the user does not need them
Create a device with minimal drawdowns
No sooner said than done. After about six months of development, production was launched in November 2016, and already in December of the same year, the first devices went to exhibitions, to reviewers and the first happy owners. online vaporizer store canada RCM received a lot of laudatory reviews even from users who were always skeptical about mechanical mods. And just recently a new version of Rocket Engine V2 appeared, which I will try to tell you about today.
Delivery set of the Rocket Engine RCM V2 mechanical mod
Under the sliding cover, a handsome mechanical mod was found in packaging shavings, in separate zip-bags additional items. I will say right away that one spare spring was separately in the parcel, and not in the box, as well as an additional contact. I can’t say for sure whether they will be in your kit.
In total, my Rocket Engine V2 kit contained:
RCM V2 mech mod
2 spare springs (one is the same as installed in the mod, the second is softer)
Spare insulators
Spare lower contact

RCM V2) is a classic pipe mod without the ability to use drains. There are only two engravings on the body: the abbreviation of the RCM manufacturer on the button pusher and the name of the mod with the serial number on the connector pad. The pipe diameter of the previous version of the RCM was 25 mm, but the mod itself was sharpened to fit 24 mm atomizers due to the chamfer, i.e. the contact group converged with a cone and the platform was a millimeter smaller. The requests and pleas of the mechanical mod’s fans found a response and the updated version became exactly 24 mm in height. RDAs of the same diameter look great, there are no transitions or noticeable joints. At the same time, the wall thickness was reduced slightly, from 3 mm to 2.6 mm. There is only one connecting thread, the mod is divided into a body and a button.
RCM V2 Specifications
Material: brass (a special aluminum series will be launched in mid-May, there is a limited copper series and plans to launch a new one)
Diameter: 24 mm
Height: 94.8 mm
Weight: 183 g (229 g with battery)
Battery: 18650
Unique button design of our own design
Contact group: brass silver-plated (updated)
Springs: hardened spring steel.
Rocket Engine mechanical mod with a classic hybrid connector, where the positive pin of the dripper touches the battery directly. The entire tube with the upper platform is machined from a single piece, the connector is a single piece with the body. There are protruding sides on top near the connector: one on the outer part, the second near the thread. The recess between these protrusions serves several purposes at once: firstly, it prevents the atomizer from “sticking” to the connector, secondly, it forms a small air gap that reduces the heating of the mod from the atomizer, and thirdly, it prevents leaking liquid from getting onto the battery contact. There is also a deep engraving with the name of the Rocket Engine mech and the serial number of the device, in my case it is BA1001: B is the material brass, A is the batch number, 1001 is the copy number.
RCM V2 button
a button that is unique and completely developed by Custom Mods. Not the slightest gaps or backlash are felt when pressed, no matter whether the finger is in the center or on the edge of the pusher, the button is always pressed straight and confidently without misfires. The design of the button in the Rocket Engine RCM V2 has been slightly redesigned compared to the first version: the second spring has disappeared and the contact material has changed from copper to brass. The features of this mod part include: no button lock, automatic adjustment to the battery and constant contact with the can, i.e. the circuit is closed not by touching the battery, but inside the button using two silver-plated contacts. Thus, you can forget about carbon deposits on your favorite 18650. And thanks to 999 silver, on the contact group itself. The diameter of the protruding contact from the button body is 12 mm (i.e. the area of its contact with the battery is 1.13 cm2, almost the entire “minus”), protrudes above the insulator by 2 mm. Good news for users of the first version of the RCM: you can order a 25 mm button with a new design for your mech.
Together with the mech mod, two spare steel springs arrived to me (in the first photo above: the leftmost one was in the button, the other two were lying separately). If the middle one is visually thinner and softer to press, then both extreme ones seemed absolutely identical. All of them are made of high-carbon spring steel, have a dielectric coating with zinc, which provides protection against corrosion, deformation under compression and heating. I also had a spare lower contact in the box, I did not see any visible differences with the complete one. The secret was revealed during measurements: one contact turned out to be 11.8 mm high, the second – 11.4 mm, apparently to adjust the button stroke and solve possible problems with the long pins of some atomizers.
Impressions and conclusions
The most indelible impression is the quality of workmanship. The fit of the parts, the processing, the quality of the threads, even the painting – everything is perfect, there is no other word for it. And the quality of the RCM’s development and production can only be compared with its appearance, with its seemingly minimalistic design. The Rocket Engine itself and its painting look great, just as the shape of the straight brass pipe is simple and laconic.
