Continuing the theme of small compact devices, great for use in the summer or just not too heavy on the pockets, today we will consider another miniature box mod from the Chinese company Dovpo – EMBER 60, which is perfect for this role.

In accordance with the size of the device itself, it is packed in the same very small black and yellow box made of thick cardboard. The manufacturer did not bother with different cover options, but simply left a small window through which the color scheme option inside is clearly visible. On the front side, in addition to the manufacturer’s name and the name of the EMBER 60 device, you can find the main characteristics of the mod and the inscription Compact Design, on the back there is a list of the meager delivery set, the details of the Dovpo company and a fairly extensive warning that vaping is an activity for adults and physically healthy people. e-cigarettes online boutique in canada A small sticker with the originality code (you can enter and check it at a special address) will help you determine whether you have a fake from a cunning Chinese competitor.

If you purchased a separate mod (there is also an Ember 60 Kit with an Ember Tank, about which I can’t say anything at all, neither good nor bad, since I haven’t held it in my hands), then under the lid you will find only the device in a bag and a small black box on the left, which contains a charging cable.

User manual

The cord for charging the device turned out to be offensively short, but quite suitable for performing its main function – charging the built-in battery. In addition to a pile of various waste paper, there was also a small instruction with illustrations in two languages - English and Chinese, which can help you figure out how to operate the newly purchased device.

Appearance and design of EMBER 60

Although the EMBER 60 box mod looks like a fairly ordinary rectangular brick, seemingly with the appropriate ergonomics, it is rounded on almost all sides and is replete with small protrusions and recesses, thanks to which it is very pleasant to the touch and literally dissolves in the hand. However, not even in the hand, but in several fingers with which it can be grasped. The device is definitely sharpened for use mainly with high-resistance windings, although it is capable of “raising” the resistance from 0.08 Ohm with a current output of 25A. Naturally, for a very short time, since the built-in battery with a declared capacity of 1700 mAh will not last long and will require charging, so this option is more theoretical than truly practical.

The entire body is made of zinc-aluminum alloy, the mod has an unexpectedly solid weight and impeccable assembly: there are no cracks or backlashes anywhere, only closer to the front part you can find two triangular ventilation holes covered with a fine black mesh. EMBER 60 has a pleasant to the touch matte black coating, after a week of careful use it did not fade or peel off anywhere. A small insert on the palm side and the controls are apparently made of plastic with a rubberized surface, even in a sweaty hand and under the fingers do not slip, and the entire device feels comfortable in the hands. Of the designations on the case, you can find two inscriptions in white paint: to the right of the screen – the name of the device, on the back – the Dovpo company logo, in my opinion, it was quite possible to do without them. Dovpo EMBER 60 Kit Colors

Both the kit and the box mod itself are available in three versions: black, yellow and red, the differences between them are only in the paint of the tank body and the color of the rubberized elements, the body in all cases is exclusively black.

Screen and control of EMBER 60

The board screen, covered with protective plastic, is quite small, and on the manufacturer’s website on the same page you can find its size indicated as 0.91 and 0.69 inches. If you apply a ruler, you can see that the display size is about 2.3 cm, i.e. the first digits are true. There is very little information here, like in old DNA boards: a graphic battery charge icon (extremely uninformative, since it can show half a charge for quite a long time, and in just a couple of minutes the device will simply turn off), winding resistance (constantly measured), supplied voltage (calculated in advance and the real one is displayed when you press Fire) and the set values of power, temperature or voltage on the battery (in bypass mode). Directly under the screen in a small recess there is a micro USB port for charging and two round holes, the purpose of which will become clear as soon as you connect the device to the charger.

Impressions and conclusions

The dimensions of Dovpo EMBER 60 in handThe box mod is perfectly assembled, looks great, is perfect for use with atomizers up to 24 mm and will certainly find its buyer, choosing a compact device for a small bundle. The board works without glitches and freezes, the times of slow electronics in Chinese devices have also long passed, there is no delay when pressing Fire, but this applies to the “awakened” device, with the screen off, it will take about a second to turn on, but then everything works instantly. Despite its compact dimensions, EMBER 60 can boast good functionality and a fairly long operating time. A full charge (literally out of the box) is enough for about one and a half Berserker MTL RTA tank with a “pot-bellied” glass from Manta RTA (volume approx. 7 ml) and a winding slightly above 1 Ohm, which was a very pleasant surprise. The controls are simple, but at the same time quite functional, there will be no problems to quickly master, even despite the frankly unnecessary button. I can only mention two points as the main complaints. The first is related to the lack of a power supply, which may not be so critical when it is possible to replace a discharged battery with a fresh one, but it is quite unpleasant when you are unable to use the device while it is charging. The second concerns the charge indicator, which can please you for a long time by displaying an almost full battery, and then in a few minutes show an empty battery. However, this applies to many inexpensive Chinese devices, where such behavior is common. Otherwise, this is a great-looking and tactilely pleasant “box” that will easily settle in your pocket with some kind of tank and replace some kind of pod and will be able to last about a day with moderate use.
