Hello, dear friends. Today we will talk about the mech mod from the USA Gorilla Mod, the second revision from Vapology 101.

Gorilla Mod mech mod packaging

The mech comes in a black box. Apart from the silver inscription GORILLA, there is no information on the box. Under the lid, we are greeted by the mech itself and a spare copper spring. vape canada online The steel spring is pre-installed in the mech itself. That’s all the extras.

Gorilla Mod mech mod appearance

The tube is not completely smooth, there are two constrictions near the button and connector for a more comfortable grip of the mech. (Running ahead, I can say that they work.) In the middle of the pipe there are very deep engravings on both sides in the form of scratches from the claws of the “Gorilla”. Probably a gorilla … although if my memory serves me right, it is not claws, but nails similar to ours … let’s leave this on the conscience of the manufacturer. And closer to the button on the pipe there are six holes for the release of gases in case of problems with the battery.

available in several colors:

Matt brass

Polished brass

Black matte

Black gloss (as in my case)

Cream

The coating is quite thin, and as you can see in the photo around the button, the paint has already rubbed off a little, although I used it quite carefully.

The Gorilla Mod has a 510 hybrid, non-adjustable connector. Near the connector there is a fairly deep engraving with a serial number. I got # 0836.

The button has a shallow engraving in the form of a gorilla’s muzzle. The threads in the Gorilla Mod mech are quite good, no creaks, no jams, and no burrs. The thread pitch is wide, easy to clean.

Gorilla Mod mech connector from the inside

Inside the pipe near the connector there is a rim, which serves as a step so that when the atom is unscrewed, the battery pole does not reach the pipe. If you accidentally press the button, a short circuit will not occur. The pipe is also processed at a high level.

Here we come to the heart of the mech mod, the button.

The button has a plastic insulator, which is also an adjustment for the height of the battery. The adjustment occurs due to the thread on the insulator and the mating thread on the body of the button.

Gorilla Mod Button Spring

There is a spring inside the button, the stroke is quite soft and moderately deep. The mod has a steel one, a spare copper one is in the box.

The pin is made of silver… probably. So says Vapology 101. On the first Gorilla Mod, the manufacturer also assured that the pin was made of silver, although it turned out to be made of brass and coated with silver. I hope they have corrected this version. Transparent varnish is applied to the place where the finger touches the button.

Result

The mech is tactilely pleasant, it fits very comfortably in the hand due to the recesses. The button stroke is also very comfortable for me. The holes for gas outlet inspire confidence. The adjustment to the battery works perfectly, it is enough to adjust it once and you can not touch it anymore. In general, the mech is made very high-quality and decently. But… When you tighten the button, the battery may become uneven due to the large diameter of the hole inside the pipe, and then the button pin does not always hit the battery plus. Hello, misfires! This problem is treated with a spacer between the battery and the pipe, then the battery is level and everything works well. Pressing the button requires getting used to, if you press in the middle – then again misfires are possible, you need to press from the edge of the button, then everything works well. Perhaps this problem is specific to my copy, but it does exist. I probably would not have paid attention to such trifles if it were a clone for $ 20, but the original from the USA, albeit a “budget”, in my opinion, should not have such annoying flaws. Cons:

Misfires

Large free movement of the battery inside

Need for “finishing”

Requires getting used to pressing the button

Thin layer of coating

Pros:

Comfortable in the hand

Pleasant tactile

Comfortable button movement

Deep engravings

Very good threads

Small height

Hole for gas outlet. There are many of them and they are quite large.

Silver pin.
